About
Hello,
My name is Viviana Manzo, I am 24 years old, and I am currently a Junior student at Los Angeles Valley College to which I will transfer to California State University Northridge for fall semester of 2021. I am earning my Associates of Transfer at Valley College and will work towards my Bachelors degree for Media Arts: Screenwriting.
So what made me choose Screenwriting?
Fresh out of graduating High School in 2014, like many other graduates, I was not sure what I wanted to major in or study so I just followed along what all counselors said, "Just go to community college and get your GED done". I took multiple electives at Reedley College and was not passionate with any of them, (which ended up in me failing many classes because I had no motivation or passion to continue Reedley College) until I took my first screenwriting course, which was Introduction to Screenwriting. I fell in love with it and I had a very clear and vivid vision of my future. So I took that as a major sign that Screenwriting is what is for me and what I am suppose to do. Of course, many obstacles rose for example, how am I to pay for school? What college is best for screenwriting? etc. I made the decision to drop out of Reedley College because there was nothing film major or minor to get me to where I want to be. After searching for the best Screenwriting classes in Los Angeles, I knew that Los Angeles Valley College and Cal State Northridge are the two schools that are meant for me, and my vision was slowly becoming more clear, still with the obstacle of how can I pay for school. Retail work does not pay well and I would not survive working retail and living in Los Angeles. I made the decision to go to massage school and become a massage therapist, best decision of my life. My vision is as clear as day, I felt no obstacles in the way anymore and I had that intense gut feeling that I am going in the correct path.
Attending Reedley College with no motivation and failing classes every semester to now attending Los Angeles Valley College with straight A's, being part of the Dean's list, joining the college honors club TAE, being part of PhI Theta Kappa, and also being apart of Honors Society is a major comeback that I am extremely proud of.
