About

My name is Wakemia McCray. I am an African American Woman. I was born in Chicago, IL December 20th in 1997 and raised in Iowa City, IA. I am the oldest sibling of three. With this came a lot of advantages and learning of many important lessons at an early age. My siblings have taught me patience, compassion and understanding. They are my true motivators in every aspect of my life.

I graduated early, a couple months before my class, in 2016 from West High School in Iowa City, IA. Now, I am a Senior at the Historically Black Clark Atlanta University (CAU) in Atlanta, Georgia. My major is Criminal Justice and my minor is Sociology. As of July 2021 my cumulative GPA is 3.1/4.0. I will graduate in May of 2022 with my Bachelors of Arts Degree. After graduation, I will enlist into the Air Force as an Active Duty Officer. I want to enlist after graduation because I will not only have the opportunity to serve my Country but I will also have the opportunity to have a leadership role at a young age. I will receive a higher pay than joining as an enlisted military member and greater opportunities for promotion and training.

When I’ve completed my four year service in the Air Force I will attend Law School for my Juris Doctor (JD) Degree. Because of my service in the Air Force my school will be paid for. My goal is to get accepted into The University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor. This is where I will work towards my life goal of becoming a Judge. Since I was a young Girl I’ve always wanted to be a Judge. I’ve always admired the power they hold not just in the Courtroom but from the public as well. I am very intrigued by the duties of Judges and all that they have to offer. Being a Judge, I will have job security and not have to worry about switching or losing my job. I will also receive a handsome salary and benefits. I hope to one day be that Judge who is known as fair, very educated, respectful, responsible and reasonable.

I am very involved, in my community and at my school. I am the President of Pre Law Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity (CAU), Vice President of IGNITE (CAU), Secretary of Political Science of Association (CAU), Member of The National Society of Leadership and Success and (CAU) and a Member of Activities Boards Member (CAU). In addition, I am A Faith in The Vaccine Ambassador at Clark Atlanta University. I develop creative partnerships with local communities with the goal of boosting COVID-19 vaccine uptake and saving lives.
