About
My name is Wethned (Whitney) Mertilien and I am majoring in Accounting at Miami Dade College. I am from the beautiful islands of Turks and Caicos .I first realized that the business field was right for me because I am a very organized person and I'm always saving money. My family usually jokes saying that I am going to die with money because I am too strict with my money. There's always a plan with me, such as shopping and budgeting. In elementary school, I wanted to own my business, specifically a salon because I enjoy braiding. I always imagined myself working in the cooperate field because honestly, I fell in love with the outfits and the power to become an independent woman. I feel that not many black women are in the business world especially back in my country. I want to prove to the world that women are just as powerful as men in the business field. The journey to a better education never ends. Nothing will stop me from achieving, succeeding and accomplishing my goals.

I want to obtain my Masters in Accounting and Finance and then continue to earn my Doctorate in Accounting

I am a readaholic; I love to read romance novels and adventure books. I love to read Wattpad and fanfiction especially werewolf, vampire, highlanders and arranged marriage stories. Every minute of the day I am on my phone reading a story, it's already an addiction. I volunteer at the Food Pantry at Single Stop at my school volunteering is another hobby of mine that I do every week in the food pantry at my school- which we basically gave out cans/food to students that are in need. I think it's a good way to give back to the community because as I college student we're practically broke, so having a place you can go to receive food is really beneficial.
