Wynter Locy

Mount Maker at Brigid Mount Making - In my role as a Mount Maker, I serve as the bridge between conservation and exhibition. I translate complex preservation requirements into physical supports, requiring a high degree of manual dexterity, spatial awareness, and collaborative communication with curators and conservators. I am aware of the high stakes of handling artifacts and using precision when adjusting mounts to objects. I use engineering to ensure the artifact will not tip, fall, or strain in the structure it is created in. As well as mechanical fastening ( using taps and threads ) and physics of lever arms ( to support artifacts that protrude from the wall ). My work will help preserve artifacts for future generations to view and learn from.

About

I am a creator and strategist. Whether I am troubleshooting technical equipment or finalizing an intricate embroidery project, i bring a eye for detail and a commitment to seeing tasks through completion. As a lifelong learner and an incoming student at Drexel university, I aim to merge my artist background with rigorous academic study to contribute meaningfully to the campus community and my future professional field.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My Job path is more of a mission to revolutionize the fashion industry through Human-Centric Design that prioritizes neurodiversity and body inclusivity. My design philosophy bridges the gap between sculptural architecture and fluid systems. Drawing from a background in fine arts and tactile crafts like pottery and embroidery, I want to create garments that offer the 'grounding' security of structured forms while maintaining the fluid adaptability required for true body inclusivity.

Graduate school interests

My graduate interests lie at the intersection of scientific innovation and social equality. I believe that to truly fix the fashion industry, we must address both the how and why. Technically, I want to use advanced design research to engineer clothing that physically supports the neurodivergent and the bodies diverse form. Socially, I want to use those designs to lead a movement toward 'Inclusive Fashion' - where fashion is recognized as a vital component of holistic health. By mastering both the technical power of fit and the activist power, I intent to create a brand that is as scientifically grounded as it is socially transformative.

Outside the classroom

Outside of mt professional and academic work, I maintain a diverse creative practice that spans digital,2D, and 3D media. I am a high tactile maker, frequently engaging in hands on hobbies like pottery, precision embroidery and sewing, all which require a understanding of material and dexterity. I complement these physical crafts with digital illustration and simulation-based games, using virtual environments with complex architectural logic and spatial planning. Whether I am drafting a 2D concept, rendering a digital design or sewing a new clothing piece, my hobbies serve as a laboratory for technical problem solving. This fluid movement between mediums allows me to refine my visual learning style and apply consistent balance and aesthetic across every project I undertake.

  • sales associate

Urban Outfitters - This was not my first time working at retail but my first to assist in opening a new store location. I assisted with merchandising, organizing the back-of-house systems and understanding the stores service culture. For a team to open a store you have to have strong collaborative skills and a self starting mindset. When we started opening the store to the public I would help figure out fashion styles and collaborate with the team in order to create the store for the right demographic. In functioning the store I would seamlessly transition between front-end sales, inventory management and visual merchandising. You must have quick problem solving to address high-traffic shifts and customers. I had knowledge of the products and trends to drive sales and enhance to customer experience

Vintage by the bay - At this local gift shop, I specialized in the restoration aand preservation of vintage furniture. This involed identifying the needs of diverse materials., preforming deep cleaning and structural maintenance on distressed pieces. Then Id apply specialized chalk paint and finishing techniques like waxing/ top coats to prepare items for resale. For the shop side I managed inventory curation and visual display. Within the small business community we did store-wide sales and community pop-ups. I helped with the physical layout of the space for high- traffic times and promotional strategies. This required balancing the back-of-house production and front-of-house event management to ensure a seamless customer experience.

Volunteering

  • Assistant for Cancer patient - I served as a dedicated patient advocate and care coordinator to help manage the complex daily needs for my father during his battle with cancer. This experience helped me develop my ability to remain detail-oriented and analytical in high-stakes, emotionally demanding environments. I created a supportive environment to ensure the comfort of everyone else on the advocate team. Thus instilled a profound sense of resilience towards environments that are not as comfortable for others.
