Lead Server at I work at a wonderful restaurant in North East Minneapolis called Masu Sushi & Robata! I've been working there for almost 2 years now and I absolutely love it!! We specialize in making your dining experience comfortable and unforgettable. We treat our customers like family and have a lot of fun. It's not work if you're having a blast! I adore my coworkers and managers and have been trusted to train in new employees. People look to me for guidance as I strive to perform excellently every day. What's the point if I'm not trying my very best in everything that I do? I love connecting with people and learning about new things. My job provides me the opportunity to get to know lots of different types of people and I've acquired so many skills that I will take with me when I eventually move on from the service industry. I've learned that people are always looking for a way to connect, to be heard, to be seen. You just have to figure out a way to meet people at their level.

About

I'm not sure how to upload my unofficial transcript to my profile so I am in the process of requesting my official transcript from MIU so I am able to provide proof that my GPA is indeed a 4.0 - I've worked very hard to achieve this accomplishment.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I would like to ideally work for a Non-Profit organization for a company that has it's values grounded in treating their employees like family, respecting the environment, and practicing sustainable business practices. For example, Dr. Bronner's soap is an amazing company that has it's core values grounded in doing good for their employees, the environment, and the community.

Graduate school interests

Persuasive speech, communication, art of story telling - I love communicating with words and finding ways to bridge gaps with creative ways to tell a story or get your point across.

Outside the classroom

It's always so hard to list hobbies for me because I'm interested in SO MANY things!

First of all, I love taking care of my body and being active. I workout 4-5x a week at a studio in North Loop called Alchemy where we do classes that incorporate yoga to warm up and cool down, sandwiched between 20-25 minuets of a high intensity HIIT exercise routine. I LOVE yin/restorative/hatha yoga. It's a very spiritual practice for me and I enjoy doing this by myself. Holding those deep stretches for 3+ minutes is incredibly healing. I also love dancing and music so much!! Music is such a large part of my soul and I could not live without it. And dancing goes hand in hand with that. Getting out of my head and into body is such an amazing experience.

As far as that goes I pretty much love everything active! Biking, rollerblading, hiking, camping, nature, laying in the grass and watching the critters crawl over my legs. The more in tune I am with nature, the more me I feel. We were never meant to separate ourselves from the natural beauty that is our Earth. I also really enjoy reading and learning new information. The world is fascinating and there is just so much knowledge I need and want to soak up! Of course, I love snuggling up with my boyfriend and watching Netflix as well.

I absolutely adore my pup Amelia and bringing her to the dog park is therapeutic for my soul. Seeing how happy she is running around brings so much joy into my heart. I like cooking and making delicious food just as much as I enjoy going out to eat to enjoy a beautiful meal. Honestly, at the end of the day I'm just so in love with life. There is so much beauty and wonder and so much I have yet to experience. I am incredibly excited for the future and what it holds!

Before Masu I worked at a restaurant called Lemon Grass Thai Cuisine in Brooklyn Park, MN. I worked here for 4 and a half years! This is where I learned thai and japanese cuisines. We made every single item from scratch and also had a full sushi bar. I learned alcohol pairings with wine, beer, sake, and cocktails. I learned about an entire different flavor palate that I never had the privilege of experiencing. I learned how to connect with customers on their level and curate their special experience. I was in charge of training all new employees. This was really my cocoon phase. I acquired all of this wonderful knowledge and took it to Masu and learned how to fly.
