Zoe Bradford

I am currently attending the pre-nursing program at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. I am a licensed cosmetologist, which was obtained during my senior year of high school, and have worked in various capacities at an upscale spa in my home town of Flower Mound, TX. I have grown up with the expectation that one can achieve any goal with determination and a good work ethic and have proven this to be true. During high school, I managed to balance advanced placement courses, cosmetology and traditional curriculum with my job after school. When I graduated among thousands, I was one of the few with a state license that would allow me to work for a living in order to sustain myself through college. My work in the spa provided experience and opportunities to learn the importance of maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations as well as the importance of employee relations and getting along with others. My integrity and competence was rewarded by increased responsibilities and promotions and I still receive requests to work when I return home during college breaks.

After high school, I chose to attend SFA because of its reputation for having a strong nursing program. Since becoming a student there, I have continued to maintain excellent grades and manage the high expectations of the nursing program. Due to my continued high achievement, I have earned university honor designations, including admission to the School of Honors and President’s List in addition to nominations for membership to various honor societies such as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. I plan to continue to expand my knowledge and explore leadership opportunities moving forward and hope to contribute to my community and greater society in meaningful ways.
