About

I started out at a young age loving animals, when I was about 10 years old, one of my dogs split his side open on a fence and I was the one to stabilize him to get him to the emergency vet, I knew from then on that I wanted to do something in the medical world of animals.
I've grown up around horses and livestock and own a retired race horse. I decided that I wanted to make my career as a large animal vet because equine and livestock mean so much to me. In my home town area there is a huge need for a vet who will treat farm animals, FFA animals, and 4H animals.
For experience, I've been mentoring under a equine sports massage therapist for the last 3 years and shadowing a vet in Anna Texas to see the real world of working in the medical field of large animals. So far I love it and have no plans other than to finish my degree in veterinarian medicine.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Large animal veterinarian, focusing in equine and livestock. I would love to service the area of East Texas where there is a huge need for a veterinarian who will travel to service rural areas and will treat all manner of animals found on a farm.

Graduate school interests

Texas A&M University in College Station is my first choice for my Phd in Veterinaian Medicine, with Oklahoma State University being my second choice for grad school

Outside the classroom

I've had many hobbies over the years, most of which usually had something to do with animals. In high school, I showed dog in the AKC ring as a junior handler. I showed in the AKC ring from ages 10-16. In my junior and senior year of high school, I rescued my horse and trained him to run barrel races in small rodeos and playdays. I continued to run barrel races in the year I took off between graduating high school and starting at my local junior college. Once I started college, I retired my horse from racing and I once again rescued another animal; this time it was a Australian Shepherd dog named Hank. I have trained him to become quite a successful herding dog and now have two herding titles on him. I am still training him and trialing him to keep my hobby hand in the agriculture world.
When I am not riding or herding, I enjoy making furniture items out of old things but fixing up and refurnishing things. I travel to rodeos and trade shows during my breaks and sell the items I have created. I also enjoying doing leather work and making horse tack and repairing old saddles and bridles.
