About (Summary)

Hello, My name is Dana Bedolla. It's nice to meet you. Konnichi wa. Watashi wa Bedolla, Dana to iimasu. Hajimemashite. I am currently in the process of changing career paths, and in doing so I am also learning Japanese to make the change easier. I originally wanted to own a restaurant, however found that my true passion lies in teaching. With this in mind I have re-joined the academic community at Grand Canyon University. My first goal is to obtain my Bachelor of Arts degree in English for Secondary Education. Upon completion of the Bachelor course work I will go into the Master's program for T.E.S.O.L. What I enjoy most about attending classes is the fact that you are never to old to learn something new and challenge yourself to change direction when life becomes stagnant. As Henry Ford stated "Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young." I wholeheartedly agree with this mind set and intend to constantly learn whether in a classroom, on-line, or from life itself.

Grad School Interests

I have not put much thought into a program beyond a Master's degree, however if there is a Doctoral program that furthers what I can achieve within my chosen field I will gladly pursue it.

Intended Job Path

My goal once I have obtained this degree is to travel to other countries, such as Japan to teach English to the children placed in my care for however long the class runs. I chose Grand Canyon University as the school for me based on the overwhelming sense of belonging when I met my adviser for the first time over the phone. In obtaining this degree I will not only be over qualified to go to other countries to teach, it will enable me to find a great career in the states once I return from teaching abroad. I will be enabled to share my passion for learning with others and hopefully inspire some to become teachers themselves.

Hobbies

In my spare time I enjoy reading, painting, and other arts and crafts projects. To elaborate, I crochet scarves and handbags, as well as make mini-top hat hair clips for friends and family. In terms of reading, I enjoy fantasy, science fiction, steampunk, comic books (yes I am a nerd) and the occasional biography. I also to this day enjoy table top and computer gaming. Being a comic book fan I love the Marvel and DC universes. There are so many great movies and television series based around these two titans in the comic book world.
