About

I come from a very diverse family; my father an immigrant from Gambia, West Africa and my mother from Neenah, Wisconsin. I decided to attend Loyola University, a liberal arts school on the North side of Chicago in order to experience the world in a more diverse way. Coming from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I was not exposed to many of the socioeconomic injustices taking place in bigger cities like Chicago and have felt my calling through programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chicago and canvassing around the Chicagoland area in order to elect a senator who stands for the same ideologies as myself which include more governmental spending for social causes.

College has been my calling to get involved in more activities such as Model United Nations, College Democrats of Illinois, participating in a break immersion to Louisville Kentucky to learn more about refugee resettlement, and traveling with the Anti-Defamation League to Israel, all while working a part-time job as a hospitality associate. Soon, I want to obtain my Master's Degree at George Washington University or Georgetown University in Washington D.C. with the hopes to become an advocate for immigrants and refugees with the same dreams and aspirations as myself who lack the financial resources to come to the United States in order to achieve a better life.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am an aspiring lawyer with a focus in immigration law. Having a diverse range of friends and family who are affected by current immigration laws and politicians who are opposed to executive decisions such as D.A.C.A, I want to fight to be the voice for those who do not have one or are afraid to speak up over these debates that may have an affect on their future in the United States. I also want to be advocate for refugee resettlement for those who are affected by civil wars or government persecution.

Graduate school interests

I dream of attending graduate school in the Washington D.C. such as George Washington University Law School or Georgetown University Law School.

Outside the classroom

I played volleyball and softball throughout high school, I participated in chess competitions and state tournaments since the second grade. I also enjoy leisure reading and hanging out with friends on the weekends.
