Goals and interests
- Career goal
I plan to pursue a career as a neurologist.
- Graduate school interests
I am interested in attending the University of Washington for grad school, but I am still looking at other options too.
- Outside the classroom
I love to play piano. I have been playing for seven years. I was taught in a private studio by a wonderful teacher, who taught and entered me in adjudications, as well as composition competitions. I also have had the pleasure of being able to teach piano to some students here in Olympia. I have been teaching for about a year now, and I love it! I hope to minor in music at Western, and to one day become a certified piano teacher.
I also love to dance. I was on my high school dance/drill team, and I was captain for three years. This experience has inspired me to join the Swing club at Western, as it is a form of dance I have yet to learn how to do, and I love learning new things.
I also love volunteering. My favorite form of volunteering was through the For Kidz program at the Thurston Country Food Bank. Every summer, I would drive to local parks with the food truck bus and hand out lunches to kids who needed them throughout the summer, as school lunches (usually their main meal for the day) are not provided. It reassured me knowing that these children were getting fed, which is why I love doing it.
I also love going to church. I am a confirmed member of Gull Harbor Lutheran Church, and I have been since 2011. I hope to join the Lutheran Youth Ministry at Western, and explore my faith more with my peers.
