Yesica Ayala

My name is Yesica Ayala and I am currently pursuing a Nursing career at Washington State University. I have participated in many activities and taken classes that have helped me prepare for my future. I have explored classes ranging from health care to Culinary Arts
During my junior year of high school I completed the Nursing Assistant program, successfully passed the Washington State Nursing Certification Exam, and received my Certified Nursing Assistant Certification. These classes helped me how our bodies work and how to comfort and communicate with patients. As a result I am able to work at Regency Manor, an assisted living and rehabilitation center, full time during the summer.
I have also been involved in Advanced Foods and Nutrition and Culinary Arts classes. These classes helped me earn my food worker card. I competed in Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation for FCCLA (Family Career Community Leaders of America). I helped design a restaurant. After receiving gold medals for competing at the regional and state level, I was able to move on and compete in the FCCLA National competition. I was successful in bringing home a gold medal! This project taught me leadership and public speaking skills.
Throughout the years I have had to overcome obstacles, but recently I have learned that it is okay to ask for help. Not having the financial means to keep attending college will not be an obstacle for me. Being the first in my family to finish high school and go to a university is a big deal to my family. I plan to be the first in my family further my education and personal growth by pursuing a professional career. I am certain I will be a successful nurse one day
