About

I am currently majoring in Psychology with a minor in English at Concord University. I am studying to become a counselor who can help change people's lives for the better. While growing up, I had always been curious as to why people act the way that they do and even why I act like I do. I have always tried to break down someone's actions and what they might be going through to see if there was a way that I could possibly help. It took me a while to figure out what field I wanted to major in. I finally made my decision after getting an amazing job at a drug/alcohol rehab in my hometown of Bluefield, West Virginia. This job changed my life for the better and now I know that I want to be a bigger part of helping these addicts and their families.

Goals and interests

Career goal: I currently work at a drug/alcohol rehab in Bluefield, West Virginia, where I see first hand what these addicts go through. I intend to use my degree to help addicts and their families through these hard times and continue to be in their lives so that they can call me anytime that they need me to. I would love to travel around the country to be an advocate, not only for addicts, but for the disease of addiction in itself.
Graduate school interests: I haven't really thought about grad school but if I could find one that would be the perfect fit for what I want to do then I would love to go. A place where I can get a foot into the door of helping addicts and getting in touch with recovery facilities all over the United States.
Outside the classroom: I love to do photography in my free time. I take photos of nature, animals, people, buildings, and even lots of art. I also love to take walks and enjoy the beauty of mother nature. Drawing, writing, and painting are some things that I do from time to time to clear my mind and have a little getaway from the world. Speaking of getting away, I sometimes like to pack up and take a drive to somewhere new for a day or two just to be experiencing new things. One of the main things that I love to do is be around animals. I have picked up many stranded animals and helped them get back to their homes or help find them some help. I also love to help wildlife get back to where they belong.

I currently work for Southern Highlands at a drug/alcohol rehab in Bluefield, West Virginia. I take residents to their appointments, conduct drug screens, body searches, and room checks. I also complete a daily task list and do computer notes on the progress/ compliance of all residents.
