About
I am a Civil Engineering student at Pennsylvania State University. I grew up on a farm and in the construction field, helping my dad design many of the projects that we have accomplished throughout the years. When it came time for me to decide on what to do after college, my interest in math, science, and designing as well as my background in construction led me to civil engineering. I've always enjoyed math in just about every aspect, and growing up I can remember really enjoying to be able to tear stuff apart and figure out how it goes back together. As I got older, puzzles became more and more of an interest to me. The harder the puzzle, the more enjoyable it is to me. So engineering became the apparent choice for me after high school. I chose civil engineering because I'm an outdoors person and I like to be up and moving and after doing the research, civil engineering fits my background and interests the most. They engineer anything from structures to foundations, roads to highways to bridges, culverts to storm water catch basins, and anything in between. These are the types of things that I helped my dad design and build as I grew up and now I hope to someday be able to stamp those designs myself.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
After I graduate from college, I intend to work at a firm close to home until I get my Professional Engineer's License (PE). Then I will most likely continue working with that firm. I originally planned to become the family engineer for my dad's construction business. I someday hope to buy him out, with my brothers, and be a partner of the business as the engineer. I don't really see myself working at another firm and running a business at the same time, so at some point down the road, I may leave the current firm that I am at to build up my dad's business. Then I hope to pass that business on down to my children so they can pick up where I stop when I retire.
- Graduate school interests
When I initially started college, I did have an interest in going for my Master's degree. I may still do that, but I am more concerned about getting my bachelor's degree and starting my career.
- Outside the classroom
In my spare time, I like to work on vehicles. Most of the time, it is either mine or my wife's that I am working on. I also love to hunt. I mainly hunt deer, but I have hunted bear, turkey, squirrel, grouse, and occasionally coyotes. My favorite type of hunting is archery. I love shooting my bow and sighting it in for different distances. I tend to lose track of time quite a bit when I am shooting my bow. I also enjoy fishing from time to time as well as walks/hikes.
