Kyla Capehart

I am currently studying Early Childhood Education at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Next semester I will transfer to another school to pursue my degree in Agricultural Education which is not offered at my current school. My goals are to teach within a middle or high school setting to prepare students for successful careers while offering a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber, and natural resource systems through the agricultural education program. I have grown up around agriculture and have loved every bit of it. My love for agriculture started on my father's 250-acre cattle farm where I worked from the time I could practically walk until 2009 when my father got hurt in an almost fatal accident working for Norfolk Southern Railway. This accident resulted in retirement and unfortunately selling the farm, but this didn't stop me from wanting to continue pursuing agriculture. In 2014 I emailed local farms looking for work till I found Old McDonald's Farm in Sale Creek Tn, where I have worked since. Through my personal experience in agriculture and knowledge through higher education I hope to impact young adult lives through the agricultural education program.
