Office Manager/Financial Coordinator at I am the Office Manager at a high-paced, highly productive pediatric dental/orthodontic office. This year will mark my 30 years working in this practice. I work on everything from fixing the computers in the office, overseeing and working on all the financial transactions, including insurance, posting all the payments, and overseeing my staff in the office. I handle all good and bad feedback from patients and employees. I create ALL the schedules for the office as well as for the doctor and keep him informed. I have many more duties that are done throughout the day. Every day, I manage to teach someone something new that they are willing to learn. I love to train people and help them learn new things. It helps people grow with confidence in themselves.

About

I am attending the University of North Texas in pursuit of a Master's in Information Science. By choosing this degree plan, I have many options available to me upon graduation. I can pursue a job as a librarian, digital curator, archival, preservation, or information science specialist. I have well-rounded knowledge from my studies with information science. I want to pursue a job in law enforcement working in the forensic department, whether digital forensics or the preservation of physical evidence. I work a full-time job and study in the evenings and weekends. I have maintained a 4.0 throughout my time at UNT and continue to do so. As well as my Master's degree, I am pursuing a Data Content and Digital Curation Certificate and Archival Management Certificate. I have already completed the required courses for the Data Content and Digital Curation Certificate. In addition, I have received the Community Engagement Cord for achieving over 50 hours of community service. I completed over 120 hours of community service. I love learning and will continue pursuing my goals by becoming certified in specific areas.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My concentration during my Master's program has been on archival, curation, and preservation. I have chosen this route because I would love to work in law enforcement with the Forensic Department to preserve and archive evidence. I think it is important to preserve the evidence, catalog it, and archive it. It needs to be ready if a case goes to court, and I want to be that person who takes care of that.

Graduate school interests

Interested in Library and Information Science, Data Content Management and Digital Curation, Archival Management and Preservation.

Outside the classroom

I like to read, paint on canvas, spend time with my 4 huskies and my husband. I like to watch sports and spend quiet time outside enjoying the weather. I also like to watch movies- all kinds except Horror movies. My newest hobby is working on my ancestry.com and my husband's. It is a lot of fun but very time-consuming. I have learned so much about my history.
