Madison Mulcahy

I am currently an Associates in Arts student at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, NC. Obtaining my Associates degree, is just the first step towards my dream of becoming a criminal psychologist. I will be graduating from Wake Tech in December of 2021. After I graduate I will be going to the University of North Carolina in Wilmington, also called UNCW to further my education. At UNCW, I will be getting a Bachelor degree in criminology and a Major degree in psychology. I am currently a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) at Wake Tech, where I am learning about the skills for becoming more successful in life. I am very close with my family and I believe that the support that they gave me and continue to give me helped me to become the woman that I am today. At just 20 years old, I have faced many challenges in life. While challenges that are occurring in the present can seem like they are going to be your downfall, those same challenges later on can develop into personal growth. I've faced my own father leaving my family and I high and dry, having to say goodbye to a foster brother who I loved with all my heart, financial challenges, and personal/mental health challenges. Looking back at who I was just three years ago, I can see the growth that those challenges have brought about. While there is still so much more to learn about and grow from, I embrace challenges now and face them head on instead of running away from difficult situations.
