Diane Tobe

My name is Diane Tobe. I graduated high school, in 2012, at Perry High School, in Lima Ohio. I lived on a farm for 20 years and have showed many animals at the Allen County Fair in Lima, Ohio. I was in 4-H for 12 years, showing steers and heifers. Being in 4-H, I learned about being a leader and a team player. You have to be able to work with your animal and train them. It is every hard to train an animal that is 1400 pounds and will hurt you because they are scared and want to get away. You have to learn how to take control and take care of the animal. You also have to be a team player when you are working with the animal. If you are only doing this for yourself the animal will not listen to you and you will lose control of your animal. I have also been a cashier at the Lima Bargain Center for a couple of years and have learned how to treat customers and how to act in the workplace. I am currently working as a Peer Tutor at Rhodes State College while I am taking classes to get my Dental Hygiene Degree. As a tutor I have learned how to work with students to help them learn. Being a tutor I have to be very patient and understanding because every student is different and I'm there to help them. Everyday is different and somedays are harder than others but in the end its so rewarding. I love working with people and animals to help them. It's a gift that I have been given and I can't help but to help others.
