About
My name is Hannaniah Matthews and I’m 18 years old. I just started at The Ohio State University as a freshman studying to get a dual degree. I’m apart of 4 main organizations such as the black student association, best of student startups program, launchpad OSU, and council of black students in administration. I am the Owner/Founder/CEO of Quazy Blessed Sweets, my own baking business, since Apr 2019. I want to have a hospitality empire and I aspire to be overly educated with many degrees and certifications.

I got this award from the APPS program through the City of Columbus for showing up everyday and going above the expectations put on me.

National Honor Society
I got into the national honor society at my school in my junior year of high school. I stayed in the institution until I graduated. Through NHS, I completed 50+ hours of community service where we made blankets for the ronald mcdonald house, etc.

Valedictorian in my CHW training program
I took a community health worker training program in summer 2023. I really loved this program because I am passionate about the wellbeing of my community. I diligently studied for the final exam and got an 100%.

Magna cum laude
I graduated magna cum laude from my high school. My high school was very academic and stem focused. We had different pathways for different careers in stem which allowed us the opportunity for more resources to be successful beyond graduation

I was able to take college courses at The Ohio State University starting as a junior in high school. I was abke to graduate with 31 credit hours, so I can finish my degree in 3 years. But I’m getting a dual degree, so Ill graduate with 2 degrees.

Dean’s list
I made the deans list at OSU for the spring semester. I was very proud of myself for working hard even though I was about to graduate. Now im able to be more flexible with my college courses as a freshman.

Class Representative for Student Council
I was elected the class representative by my senior class 23’. I was able to put on events and help plan food/toy drives for the low income families in surrounding neighborhoods.
Goals and interests
- Career goal
Founder/Owner of a hospitality empire is my main long term goal. My short term goal is to get as much experience in the hospitality and business industry to successful own my own restaurant/bakery. I have had positions working in back kitchens in hospitals and catering companies learning how to cook for a mass of people. I have had 6+ months of experience of waking up early to prepare food for clients and staying up late making sure everything is here it needs to be.
- Graduate school interests
I will go to grad school 5-10 years after I graduate with my dual degree in my undergrad. In between those years, I will get an associates degree in culinary at Columbus State because I want to expand my culinary knowledge. I love to cook and to bake but I would be a better baker/chef, If I learned the science behind the ingredients.
