About

I returned to college after a nearly two decade break in my studies. As a parent of three special needs children, I completed the last three years of coursework at two different institutions with sheer will and determination. At Kishwaukee Community College, I received Dean's List honors during each semester of attendance, 2014 Outstanding Student in English, and an Associate's Degree awarded Suma Cum Laude. At Northern Illinois University, I received Dean's List honors during each semester of attendance, and a Bachelor's Degree awarded Suma Cum Laude. During my last year at Northern, I helped organize a student organization for individuals interested in Occupational Therapy, and I was Vice President for its inaugural year. These things were all achieved at the same time as caring for my family and working full time.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I intend to complete my graduate studies at Aurora University, and then find a position in the Social Work industry in our area, helping families with individuals that have disabilities in many ways.

Graduate school interests

Just beginning grad school, I can't say that my interests are set. It seems overwhelming at this point. Suffice it to say that my main focus is continuing my commitment to education and absorbing everything I can to promote professional development.
