About
Hello, my name is RaJean Bobbins. I’m a 12th grade student at Valley High School, in Las Vegas, Nevada, graduating in the Spring of 2024. The program I am currently enrolled in is the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (AOHT). Over the past four years I have acquired a wealth of knowledge and many skills that have helped shape me with many accomplishments.
My biggest accomplishment that I am very proud of is that I currently have a 3.8 grade point average and I am in the top 20% of my graduating class. I am not only academically soaring, but I also have other activities/achievements beyond academics. For example, being elected by my peers Black Student Union President for the last two years. A few events that I orchestrated were school wide pep rallies, collaborating with other clubs, reading to elementary students, and many others. Another example, being part of AOHT Leadership; hosting events involving parents and students, recruiting middle schoolers to join the magnet program, and planning paid internships for students to participate in. I’ve been able to maintain all the above extra-curricular activities while being employed.
I constantly strive to dedicate myself to academic growth, by setting goals and staying focused. While being involved in student extra-curricular activities to ensure growth in myself and in my community.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
My intended job path is to be a respiratory therapist which is an incredibly fulfilling and important role in the field of healthcare in my opinion . As a respiratory therapist, you have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of patients by helping them breathe easier. Most people take breathing for granted because it is something that people do without thinking, but my life experiences have taught me otherwise.
In 2019 and 2022, it was put into ICU for what started out as a simple asthma attack. The asthma attack turned into pneumonia and then progressed to rhinovirus. During the weeklong stay in ICU both times, the people who had the largest impact were the respiratory therapists.
The reasons why they made such an impact is because they had incredible bedside mannerism. For example, they made me feel as though they truly cared about my well being and improving my overall health, which included my ability to breath on my own. Inspiring me to pursue a career in the respiratory therapist field to continue on that experience to others in need.
