You could say that I started from the bottom and crawled my way here. Growing up with a schizophrenic mother presented its own unique set of drawbacks. In highschool I excelled academically. By the time I was 17 I had been taken away by CPS and I was forced to drop out of school and get a job to support myself. I didn't see my mother again for 6 years, during which her condition worsened considerably. Now, as a woman, I will not let anything or anyone stand in the way of my education. I am dedicated to spending my life helping underserved communities like the one that I came from.
