About

I have been interested in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics since I was young. I excelled in mathematics, and therefore centered my studies on that field, as well as the fields of science, up through senior year of high school. I even played a major role in our school's math club all four years of high school. Once in college at Arizona State University, I became a major in mathematics until I realized that the pursuit of that field would send me deep into the realms of abstract math, which weren't as interesting to me as the applied fields of science and engineering. After a few semesters of exploring my strengths, weaknesses, and interests in these applied fields, I settled into a study of chemical engineering and material science/engineering, which intermingle and synergize with each other. In an official sense, I am a chemical engineering major with an emphasis on material science and engineering.
Outside of academia, I am the fourth child in a family of six children, and my parents are still together despite raising all of us. I am an eagle scout, and an active member of my lds congregation. I took two years off after my first year of college to go on a mission for my church in the area around Cincinnati, Ohio, and I went back to school immediately after that. I worked for one and a half years as a math tutor at ASU, and also at a shop for frozen yogurt until it closed due mostly to fierce competition. I've lived in Arizona for most of my life (except for my mission), and I love this desert.

Goals and interests

Career goal

To work as a Chemical Engineer for a Materials Engineering company

Graduate school interests

To either gain a degree in chemical engineering or material science/engineering, but I think it would be best if I began to work to stabilize myself financially beforehand, and then return later to finish grad school.

Outside the classroom

Singing, reading (instructional, scientific, fantasy, science fiction), origami, piano, board games, field games, video games, feldenkrais, tai chi, solving puzzles, outdoor activities (canoeing, shooting, archery, orienteering, swimming, climbing, hiking, etc.), tutoring, and informal/unofficial sports (wrestling, racquetball, volleyball, soccer, football, dodgeball, rock climbing, etc.). Really, games are about having fun with people you like to be around, and challenging yourself to do your best. I also really enjoy survival and prepper training.
