About
I began my professional journey with honorable service in the United States Marine Corps from May 2015 to July 2019. During this time, I developed strong leadership and organizational skills, serving as the primary administration liaison and managing manpower for logistical support. This role required keen judgment, decisiveness, and a commitment to excellence, which have seamlessly transitioned into my healthcare career.
After my military service, I earned my certification as a Sterile Processing Technician from Pima Medical Institute in October 2020.
In August 2021, I joined Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, a prestigious Level 1 trauma center. Here, I manage the decontamination, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, showcasing my dependability and expertise. My ability to lead effectively, make decisive actions, and ensure high standards has been crucial in these roles.
Currently, I am pursuing an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Surgical Technology at Pima Medical Institute, with graduation anticipated in November 2024. Now in my clinicals, I am participating and assisting in real-life surgeries, marking a significant advancement from my role as a sterile processor to that of a surgical technologist. This transition is the result of immense dedication and sacrifices in my educational journey, embodying the endurance and unselfishness I learned as a Marine. My experience in the military has taught me the importance of being dependable and maintaining integrity, qualities that are essential in the operating room.
Looking ahead, my ultimate goal is to become a surgical nurse practitioner. After receiving my Associate Degree, I plan to pursue a Bachelor's degree in nursing, followed by graduate school for my Master's degree. This ambitious path reflects my dedication to advancing in the medical field and aligns with the values represented by the Honor Society. The leadership traits I developed as a Marine—such as courage, knowledge, and loyalty—continue to drive my ambition and commitment to professional growth.
