Goals and interests

Career goal

I intend to become an emergency and disaster manager to mitigate and prevent specifically Tsunamis, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Typhoons, and other natural hazards in Japan. I will be study abroad starting the spring of 2026 in Japan to meet this end goal to improve my fluency in Japanese.

Graduate school interests

I hope to get a Ph. D. at Kansai Gaidai (in Japan) in their doctoral program of Disaster Prevention and Reduction.

Outside the classroom

My most relevant hobby to my major is talking with a mentor I have found in emergency management that has connections in Japan.
I often collect rocks from various different countries; now I have a collection of over 600 rocks that I am sure are worth collectively over 900 dollars.
I also practice several kanji everyday which is the most complex form of Japanese.
I also love to hike and see campus plays at the theatre.
