About

I am currently a junior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, majoring in International Studies, with an emphasis in conflict resolution and a minor in film. In addition, I have a concentration in Arabic and am working towards proficiency. I would like to continue my study of Arabic, but to further that goal; I require three additional upper-level courses, which are not offered at my university. This is one of the many reasons why I desire to study Peace and Conflict resolution at the University of Haifa International School, where I will be able to earn the necessary credits to satisfy the requirements for an individually designed minor in Arabic. In addition, traveling to Israel will fulfill two of my life goals, the first being to study in another country and the second, to visit the Holy Land. I have wanted to visit Israel my entire life, but due to financial constraints never found it possible. If awarded this scholarship, I will be able to take advantage of an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fulfill a personal dream.

Once I return home, the knowledge, experience, and contacts I gain will make me a leader not only on my campus, but also in my chosen field. I will be a testimony to other non-traditional students, as well as to young black men in my area who may think a college education and/or studying abroad are out of the realm of possibility.
