About

I am a certified Texas teacher who has taught 6th grade ELA for the last 6 years. I became interested in Deaf Education upon my oldest sons diagnosis of hearing loss when he was 7. It was then that I realized that teachers are not educated in the needs of Deaf/ Hard of Hearing students and that I need to do more, not only for my son, but for all the other students who are also like him. I currently 2 classes away (6 hours) from receiving my certification in Deaf Education, but I want more. I was accepted into Project CODE, a grant program in Texas that aims to help certified teachers gain their Deaf Educator certification. Since beginning this program I have obtained a 4.0 GPA while also being a mom, wife, sports chauffer, and full time teacher.
