About

Salve! That's the Latin root Salutations or Greetings! My name is Daniel McDonald Russell and I am Chemistry student at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville Alabama. I grew up in Cobb County Georgia where I attended Hillgrove High school. I graduated in the top 10% or 90th percentile of my class with a 4.167 GPA. While at Hillgrove I took at least 1 AP class every year and a particular interest in Chemistry, Latin, and Photography. While I didn't pursue Photography in school I did take 5 years of Latin, joined Latin club as a member and later an officer (position of Historian), took the national Latin exam and scored Magna Cum Laude, and was granted membership into the Latin Honor Society, through the Georgia Latin chapter of the National Junior Classical League or NJCL for short, in the position of High Priest. I also took a total of 9 AP Exams over the course of my high school and was awarded both the AP Scholar Award and the AP Scholar with Honor Award. As a show of my Academic success I was offered admission into the National Beta Club program where every year I dedicated at least 10 hours of community service for the betterment of those around me and to stay in the program. As previously mentioned I graduated with a 4.167 weighted GPA and a 3.8 unweighted which earned me my letters in academics all 4 years of high school. I also played trombone in Hillgrove's Concert and Symphonic band my Freshman through Junior years and on my Men's Lacrosse Team at Hillgrove my Freshman and Sophomore year as goalie.

Graduate school interests

I plan on pursuing my Masters and Doctorate in some field of Chemistry at the University of Georgia.

Outside the classroom

I am an avid Photographer and Musician. I am a self taught photographer and play the Bass Guitar, the Mandolin, Piano, and Trombone. In my downtime I still love to study Latin as a Language and Roman and Pre-Roman culture. I am a Chemistry Major and enjoy doing various chemistry and physics problems on the side (not to brag, but I am top 10 in Georgia in the Chemistry QuizUp app). I enjoy spending quality time with my girlfriend of 2 years as well.
