About
My name is Nicholas Black, and my journey to graduation has been one built on perseverance, discipline, and growth. In Fall 2023, I transferred to Saint Augustine’s University from Clinton College with a vision for my future and a determination to continue pushing myself academically, physically, and personally. Now, after completing my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in Fall 2025, I can proudly reflect on how far I have come and the foundation I have built for the next chapter of my life.
During my time at Saint Augustine’s University, I developed a strong understanding of human movement, injury prevention, athletic performance, and overall health and wellness. As someone who has always been passionate about athletics and physical fitness, studying exercise science allowed me to connect my personal interests with meaningful academic and professional goals. Through coursework, hands-on learning, and real-world application, I gained a deeper appreciation for how exercise science can improve performance, support recovery, and help individuals maintain long-term physical health.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned throughout this journey is that success does not happen overnight. It requires consistency, teamwork, sacrifice, and the willingness to keep moving forward even during difficult moments. Balancing academics, personal responsibilities, and future planning challenged me to become more disciplined and focused. My studies strengthened my critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and ability to apply scientific concepts in practical settings. More importantly, they reinforced my belief that growth comes through hard work and perseverance.
As an avid athlete, I became increasingly interested in helping athletes and active individuals train safely, move efficiently, and perform at their highest potential. I want to make a positive impact in every environment I enter by encouraging others to prioritize both physical health and mental resilience. I approach every opportunity with dedication, humility, and a strong work ethic because I believe continuous self-improvement is essential to becoming the best version of myself.
Graduation is not the end of my journey. It is the beginning of a new mission. After graduation, I will begin Cadet training through Army ROTC at Duke University as I work toward becoming a commissioned officer. In addition, this fall I will begin pursuing a master’s degree in Kinesiology and Recreation Management at North Carolina Central University. No matter where life takes me next, I will always remain a proud Falcon, carrying the lessons, relationships, and experiences from Saint Augustine’s University with me into the future.
