Honor Society® Expert FAQ
Can AI compare college financial aid offers?
AI can organize financial-aid offers into a comparison, but it should not make the final decision or replace verification. Confirm every amount, time period, award condition, and calculation against the original documents.
Keep grants, loans, work-study, and costs separate
Use a redacted or manually entered summary that excludes account numbers and personal identifiers. Separate grants and scholarships from loans and work-study, then compare costs for the same period. A large aid total can include borrowing or wages you still need to earn, so it is not necessarily a lower net price.
Honor Society’s aid-offer comparison guide provides a worked framework. Check renewal requirements and costs outside tuition, and ask the college about unclear terms. Do arithmetic independently; a well-formatted table can still contain an incorrect subtraction or a mistaken interpretation of an award.
Your next steps
- Enter only necessary, verified figures for matching time periods.
- Separate gift aid, borrowing, and work-study.
- Check calculations and resolve uncertainties with the aid office.
