Honor Society® Expert FAQ
Can community college students get scholarships?
Yes. Community college students can find scholarships through their college, its foundation, community organizations, employers, and outside providers. Eligibility depends on the award; some programs specifically include two-year colleges, while others restrict the institution or degree type.
Start with the campus foundation and financial aid office
Ask whether one application enters you for several campus awards and whether there are separate program-specific opportunities. Your department may know about awards connected to a career pathway or field of study.
If you plan to transfer, distinguish funding for your current enrollment from funding that begins only after transfer. Check whether an award can move with you and whether it requires full-time attendance, a particular credential, or a minimum number of credits.
Put the answer into practice
- Verify that two-year college enrollment is eligible.
- Check your certificate or associate-degree program against the rules.
- Look for local and employer connections.
- Ask how a planned transfer would affect payment or renewal.
The local scholarship guide can help identify nearby providers. A community college pathway should shape your search criteria, not lead you to assume scholarships are only for four-year students.
