Honor Society® Expert FAQ
Are scholarships available for transfer students?
Yes. Scholarships are available for some transfer students through receiving colleges and outside providers. Search specifically for transfer eligibility because first-year admission awards may not apply to students with prior college enrollment.
Coordinate the award with the transfer application
Check whether the receiving college considers transfer applicants automatically or requires a separate form. Ask which GPA it uses, how many transferable credits are required, and whether admission must be completed by a priority date.
Distinguish transfer admission from scholarship selection. Being admitted or having credits accepted does not guarantee funding. If you already hold a scholarship, ask the provider whether it can be used at the new institution; portability should not be assumed.
Put the answer into practice
- Review transfer-specific awards at each receiving college.
- Check credit, GPA, residency, and enrollment conditions.
- Record scholarship dates alongside admission dates.
- Compare renewable value and remaining degree costs.
Prepare a concise record of college work, employment, service, and goals. Use the achievement inventory to explain your progress without treating the transfer itself as an academic award.
