Honor Society® Expert FAQ

Can you apply for scholarships while already in college?

Yes. Many scholarships are open to students already enrolled in college. Look for continuing-student, departmental, major-specific, local, and outside awards rather than limiting your search to first-year admission scholarships.

Search through the college you already attend

Ask the financial aid office and your department whether there is a campus scholarship application. Some awards become available after you declare a major, complete certain credits, or demonstrate particular work. Check whether an existing application must be renewed each year.

Outside awards may also accept current students, but verify the eligible degree level, remaining enrollment period, and permitted institution. A scholarship that requires an upcoming full academic year may not fit someone graduating after one term.

Put the answer into practice

  • Check campus and department application dates.
  • Update your transcript and achievement record.
  • Confirm enrollment and GPA requirements.
  • Report outside awards to financial aid as instructed.

Use the scholarship directory to expand your search. Honor Society’s Undergraduate Achiever Scholarship is one program to review against its current rules; listing it does not establish individual eligibility.
