Honor Society® Expert FAQ
Does financial aid cover summer courses?
Financial aid may cover eligible summer courses, but availability depends on your school, program, enrollment, and remaining award eligibility. Summer is not automatically funded because you received aid in fall and spring.
What to know before you act
Ask which FAFSA year applies to the summer term and whether the school requires a separate request. Pell, loans, institutional grants, and scholarships may each follow different rules. Annual loan usage and lifetime grant eligibility can limit what remains.
Compare the summer cost with the benefit of taking the courses now. Confirm that credits count toward your program and that the aid schedule matches billing dates. Get a written estimate before registering for a load chosen mainly to reach an assumed aid threshold.
Your next steps
- Ask which FAFSA and summer-aid forms are needed.
- Confirm course applicability and enrollment requirements.
- Review remaining eligibility and payment timing.
For the next step, use the fafsa preparation guide. Organize documents, contributor steps, award years, and follow-up tasks.
