Honor Society® Expert FAQ

How do you apply for a Pell Grant?

Apply for a Pell Grant by completing the FAFSA for the correct award year and meeting the school’s follow-up requirements. There is generally no separate federal Pell Grant application.

What to know before you act

List the eligible schools that should receive your FAFSA information. Review the processed summary, correct errors, and respond to requests for documentation. The college determines and disburses the amount for which you are eligible.

Honor Society’s FAFSA preparation guide can help you gather documents and manage contributor steps before applying. After you receive the school’s offer, compare the grant with total expenses and consider suitable scholarships for any remaining gap. Keep those applications separate from the federal process.

Your next steps

  • Choose the FAFSA matching your attendance dates.
  • Complete signatures, consent, and required contributor sections.
  • Monitor the college portal until the aid file is complete.
