Honor Society® Expert FAQ
How do you put dean's list on a résumé?
List dean’s list under Education or in a relevant Honors and Awards section. Include the official distinction, your college, and the term or terms earned. Keep it concise so employers can understand the achievement quickly.
Choose wording supported by your record
For a student or recent graduate, the distinction may sit directly beneath the degree information. If you have several relevant awards, a separate section can help. With substantial work experience, keep the honor only if it still adds useful context.
Illustrative formats include “Dean’s List, Fall [year]” and “Dean’s List, [number] semesters.” Replace brackets with verified information. Write “all semesters” only if every applicable term is confirmed; do not count terms before a transfer unless the entry makes the awarding institutions clear.
Put the answer into practice
- Check the notification or transcript before drafting.
- Use consistent dates and capitalization.
- Avoid listing the same honor in multiple sections.
- Pair recognition with evidence of skills and work where relevant.
You do not need to explain the full eligibility policy unless it helps the reader. The awards and honors résumé guide helps you decide when a separate section earns its space.
