Honor Society® Expert FAQ

What is a high school brag sheet?

A high school brag sheet is a concise record of experiences, strengths, goals, and relevant context that helps a recommender write a specific letter. It is background material, not a recommendation you write for yourself.

Give the writer evidence, context, and goals

Include examples the writer may remember: a project, a question you pursued, a challenge you handled, or a contribution to a group. Add activities and responsibilities outside the classroom when they clarify your experience. Describe your own role accurately.

Honor Society’s brag-sheet template provides a practical starting point. Adapt it to the writer instead of sending an overwhelming list of every achievement. Include deadlines and submission instructions separately so they are easy to find. Share sensitive circumstances only when relevant and when you are comfortable with how the information may be used.

Your next steps

  • Choose examples connected to the recommender’s experience with you.
  • Verify award names, dates, and responsibilities.
  • Send a concise sheet with a clear deadline and your thanks.
