Honor Society® Expert FAQ

How do you build an activities list for college?

Build an activities list by inventorying your meaningful commitments, choosing the strongest entries, and describing your responsibilities with specific verbs. Include appropriate school, work, family, and community experiences.

Turn commitments into clear, accurate entries

For each activity, record the organization or setting, your role, dates, time commitment, and a supportable contribution. Use the application’s actual fields rather than trying to fit a résumé into a short description box. Rank entries by significance and sustained involvement.

Fictional example: “Helped at events” becomes “Managed workshop sign-in records and sent attendance summaries to the organizer,” if those details are true. The second version explains the work without inventing leadership or a numerical result. Honor Society’s activity-description guide provides a way to make these distinctions consistently.

Your next steps

  • Create a factual inventory before shortening descriptions.
  • Separate team outcomes from your individual contribution.
  • Check time estimates, field limits, and final entry order.
