Honor Society® Expert FAQ
What scholarships are available for STEM students?
STEM students can look for scholarships through colleges, academic departments, professional associations, employers, and verified outside providers. Search for your specific field and education level rather than assuming every STEM award includes every science or technical program.
Use the award’s definition of the field
An award may target engineering, computing, mathematics, a particular science, or a narrower specialty. It may require enrollment in a named type of program, completed coursework, a project, or an interest in a specific career. Check how the provider classifies your major.
Prepare evidence that fits the criteria: coursework, research, a design project, tutoring, service, or employment. Distinguish your own contribution from a team’s result. You do not need to claim a published discovery when the prompt asks about motivation or learning.
Put the answer into practice
- Ask your department about internal and external awards.
- Check major, degree-level, and enrollment restrictions.
- Document relevant projects and responsibilities.
- Verify current provider rules before applying.
The achievement inventory helps turn technical experience into clear evidence. Describe what you did and learned in language a reviewer outside your exact specialty can understand.
