Shani Lin is a high school junior in Irvine, California. Inspired by the special-needs children at the Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center, where she taught Digital Media Design in her freshman year, she realized that everyone including the underserved children contributes to the community and human growth. Since then, Shani has dedicated more than 500 voluntary service hours to various non-profit organizations such as American Cancer Society, Children's Hospital of Orange County, and OC Rescue Mission. Her extensive voluntary service was recognized by being awarded the President's Volunteer Service Award and The Congressional Award. At the same time, Shani developed leadership skills by working as the President and Founder of OC Biology Northwood Chapter, Co-founder and Marketing Director of ChemUnity Chempetition, and many other leadership roles. Academically, Shani has been taking the most rigorous courses available at her school and from colleges. She has maintained a GPA of 4.0/4.0 unweighted, and received many academic honors and awards. She realized at an early stage of career development that the only way to success is by sheer hard work. Shani plays violin and golf both leisurely and competitively. As a part of her school’s Varsity Golf team, she received the Coaches Award in recognition of her consistency, persistence, and performance. Shani is also a violinist in her school's Philharmonic Orchestra. She has been accepted to the CODA California All-State Honor Orchestra for two consecutive years. Shani has a long-term goal. She would like to startup and manage non-profit organizations in different subject areas for underserved communities, and inspire the younger generation to do the same. Shani currently volunteers in more than ten organizations, leading by example, hence her personal growth.
