Honor Society for Colleges & Universities

For colleges, universities & student support teams

More opportunity for your students.

You help students discover what they can achieve. Honor Society® offers additional resources they can explore along the way: scholarship opportunities, career preparation, mentorship, personal branding, and support through Honor Society Cares™.

Honor Society is an independent national membership organization serving students and professionals. Our resources complement the work of faculty, advisors, career centers, and student affairs teams as students prepare for life during and after college.

Honor Society Cares™

Support when a student needs help with dues.

A student’s financial circumstances deserve understanding. When a student is interested in premium benefits and needs help with membership dues, you can point them to Honor Society Cares.

Honor Society Cares™ provides need-based, partial assistance toward optional premium membership dues for eligible applicants. The Honor Society team reviews requests based on financial need, program criteria, and available resources. Approval and assistance amounts are not guaranteed.

Students can begin with free membership without applying for Cares. Those seeking dues assistance can review the program and complete their own application; sign-in or registration is required to access the form.

Respect for the broader honor society community

Honor Society has donated more than $1 million to nonprofits and other honor societies to help further opportunity for students.

We respect the work of campus-based, discipline-specific, and independent honor societies. Their traditions of recognition, scholarship, leadership, and service contribute to the choices available to students.

Supporting nonprofits and fellow honor societies is one way we contribute to that broader community. Our giving reflects a belief that student opportunity deserves support across organizations, alongside the resources and assistance we provide to our own members.

A national history. A focus on students’ futures.

Since the launch of our web-first initiative in 2014, millions of members have joined Honor Society. That is a cumulative total, reflecting a community built across different stages of education and work.

Our history includes a national base of campus chapters. We made a deliberate decision to transition away from that model and focus on long-term opportunities for members: career preparation, personal branding, continued learning, and preparation for fields with strong growth potential.

Honor Society operates independently of colleges, universities, and other honor societies. Our resources complement campus advising, career services, and the academic recognition students earn through their institutions.

Questions from colleges and universities

Can students join without a campus chapter or invitation?

Yes. Students can join directly through HonorSociety.org without a campus chapter, invitation, or minimum GPA. Academic recognition levels and individual scholarships have their own criteria. Review membership requirements.

What does membership cost?

Membership is free. Optional premium plans start at $65 every six months and renew automatically unless canceled. Students should compare the benefits they expect to use with the plan’s price and terms. Review membership dues or compare tiers.

How can advisors share these resources with students?

Share the page that matches the student’s question: scholarships, career services, membership requirements, or Cares. Students can review the details and apply or participate directly. For questions about a resource or an Honor Society message, our Help Center is a useful starting point.

How does Honor Society recognition fit with graduation?

Students may purchase official Honor Society regalia and keepsakes, including cords, tassels, and frames. Each institution determines its own academic honors and ceremony rules, so students should confirm graduation attire requirements before ordering. Visit the Honor Society Store.
