The Dream that Never Died !
I was 10 years old and I saw my cousin using her hands to communicate with an older couple at that time I had no Idea that she was using ASL to communicate. I looked at my mother and ask her what is she doing with her hands? She looked at me and told me " why don't you go and ask her what she is doing." So I did and my cousin looked at me and told me this was a way that non hearing or Deaf people talk to one another.
I thought to my self that is awesome and I ask her if it was hard to learn she told me, "No it just takes time." So I ask my mom if I could go and get a book to learn how to use my hands to communicate with people. So she told me sure what is the name of the language she is speaking so I told her it was ASL or American Sign Language. So that was how I started to learn ASL. I told my self one day I will be an Interpreter like my cousin.
Now almost 20 years later and a lot of mistakes later I am now trying to fulfill my dream to be an ASL interposer and also and Audiologist so that I can help people.
