Honor Society® Expert FAQ
How do you get an internship in college?
To get an internship in college, choose a target role, build a résumé showing relevant work or projects, and apply through verified employers and your campus career center. Combine applications with conversations about the field.
Build evidence for a focused internship search
Start with what you can contribute now: research, writing, spreadsheets, customer service, lab techniques, or project coordination. A class project can demonstrate a skill when you describe your own contribution and can explain the work. Tailor your strongest evidence to each role instead of sending an identical application everywhere.
Track deadlines, contacts, interview dates, and outcomes. Ask your career center to review your materials and identify employers that recruit students in your major. Honor Society’s career-services page also provides a route to career guidance, including Firsthand mentorship through a free account, subject to advisor availability.
Your next steps
- Choose two or three roles that fit your skills and interests.
- Prepare evidence-based résumé bullets and one relevant work sample.
- Apply consistently and review what each response teaches you.
