Honor Society® Expert FAQ
How do you know whether your college credits will transfer?
To find out whether credits will transfer, check the receiving college’s official equivalency information and request an evaluation. A course’s acceptance and its usefulness toward your intended degree are separate questions.
Use official equivalencies and confirm unresolved courses
Start with the exact institution, course number, credit value, and term completed. Look for a published transfer agreement or equivalency database, but check whether it applies to your program and catalog year. If a course is missing, send the syllabus and learning outcomes to the office responsible for evaluation. An absent listing does not automatically mean rejection.
Ask for the result in writing: direct equivalent, general education, elective credit, or not accepted. Then ask your program adviser where the course fits in the degree plan. Preliminary estimates may change after official transcripts arrive. Honor Society’s transfer-honors guide highlights additional questions about graded credits and recognition. Keep correspondence with the final evaluation so you can resolve discrepancies efficiently.
Your next steps
- Match exact courses and the relevant catalog year.
- Request individual review for unresolved coursework.
- Confirm degree application after official evaluation.
