Honor Society® Expert FAQ

When is the FAFSA deadline?

There is no single FAFSA deadline for every kind of aid. Federal, state, and college deadlines differ, and the earliest priority deadline may matter most for limited funding.

What to know before you act

For the 2026–27 FAFSA, the federal submission deadline is June 30, 2027. State and school deadlines can be much earlier, and a college may require complete information before your enrollment ends. Confirm correction deadlines separately.

Do not wait for the federal deadline if you want consideration for aid distributed earlier. If you missed a priority date, ask whether you can still receive federal aid, remaining institutional funding, or a review under special circumstances. Keep records of submission and any required follow-up.

Your next steps

  • Record federal, state, and college deadlines separately.
  • Check whether the deadline requires submission or a complete processed file.
  • Resolve signatures, corrections, and requested documents promptly.

For the next step, use the fafsa preparation guide. Organize documents, contributor steps, award years, and follow-up tasks.
