Berlin in Spring
Berlin in Spring was wonderful, I got to try different food Iike what looked to be spinach and cheese in a yeast-free crepe-like bread, and very neat sandwiches I could buy in the subway. The subways and buses were very cool. They ran most of the time and you only needed to have your pass when they checked you. There were great little parks everywhere, the balance of city and nature were very much considered. Almost everyone was polite and respectful. There were a lot of people on bikes which is very different than the DC Metro area, don’t get me wrong the DMV (DC, Maryland & Virginia) area have their share of bikes but nothing like Germany.
I was there to build on the German I took in High School. I went to a place called EF (Education First) Languages and they had a very interesting program. I did stay the first 4 or 5 weeks in the student housing then for the last 7 or 8 weeks I had a host family. I did learn the word for Red Bell Peppers (Paprika) the hard way because I am apparently allergic.
But I did a lot of walking, bus riding, subway riding and trips using an App called “Free Now”. I would highly recommend making the trip to Germany (Deutschland) there are tons of things to see in Berlin, I was treated respectfully and the grocery stores are sooooo cheap with sooo many healthy choices you will fall in love with Berlin.
