Discovering My Passion in High School

One of the most difficult aspects of being in high school is deciding what one wants to do in life. Students often need to make choices about their higher education or even jobs even before they figure out their passions in life. This is something that I am experiencing as well, since I have been exploring different career options and discovering my own passions.

For a long time, I wanted to be a teacher. Teaching has always appealed to me because I like working with children and making a difference in other people’s lives. Through my experience in educational programs, I understood what teaching involves.

As I gained more knowledge of myself, I also developed an interest in psychology. It is clear to me that I enjoy human behavior and mental wellbeing, and psychology offers me a chance to assist others in another meaningful way. With psychology, I am able to assist others in overcoming their difficulties, growing and developing as people.

Though I do not know for sure where I will be in the future in terms of my career, I have understood that it is normal not to know everything when one is a high school student. In addition to being a time of learning and discovering myself, high school is a time when I gain an understanding of what kind of career I like and what I would rather pursue.

I look forward to delving further into these areas as I head into college life. In whichever direction my career path takes me, one thing is certain; it will be my desire to leave a positive impact on the lives of people around me.
