Honor Society® Expert FAQ
Can part-time college students get scholarships?
Yes. Some scholarships allow part-time enrollment, while others require full-time attendance. Check the award’s credit minimum and the school’s definition of enrollment status before applying or changing your schedule.
Ask how course load changes the award
A scholarship may be available at a reduced amount for part-time study, require a minimum number of completed credits, or prohibit a drop below a stated enrollment level. These rules can differ from the institution’s other financial aid requirements.
Consider the whole academic year. A manageable part-time schedule may extend the degree beyond a scholarship’s maximum number of terms. Ask whether summer enrollment counts and whether an approved leave changes eligibility.
Put the answer into practice
- Confirm the minimum credits for receiving the award.
- Check whether the amount changes with enrollment.
- Read completed-credit and renewal requirements.
- Ask before dropping a class or reducing your course load.
A useful question is: “Would enrollment in [number] credits meet this scholarship’s rules, and how would it affect payment?” Get the answer from the provider or financial aid office rather than assuming that general admission eligibility is enough.
