Honor Society® Expert FAQ
Can graduate students receive Pell Grants?
Graduate students generally cannot receive Pell Grants for graduate study. Pell primarily supports eligible undergraduate education, with narrow exceptions that do not create general graduate-degree eligibility.
What to know before you act
Certain postbaccalaureate teacher-certification programs and approved workforce programs have special rules. A program’s name alone does not establish eligibility, and a graduate credential can affect access to the workforce exception. Ask the school to classify the exact program.
For graduate funding, investigate assistantships, fellowships, employer assistance, institutional awards, and appropriate loans. Honor Society’s Graduate Student Achiever Scholarship is another award to examine: it provides a graduate-focused application path, subject to its current criteria and competitive selection.
Your next steps
- Ask the aid office which federal aid your program permits.
- Check departmental assistantship and fellowship deadlines.
- Review the graduate scholarship’s current application requirements.
