Honor Society® Expert FAQ
How do you write a letter of continued interest?
A letter of continued interest can reaffirm your interest after a deferral or waitlist decision and provide meaningful updates. Send one only when the college’s instructions allow it.
Send new information the college permits
Keep it concise: acknowledge the decision, state your continued interest honestly, describe a significant new development, and connect your goals with a specific aspect of the college. Do not repeat your entire application or claim the school is your first choice unless that is true.
Adaptable outline: “Thank you for continuing to consider my application. Since applying, I have [verified update]. This strengthened my interest in [specific academic connection]. I remain interested in attending and appreciate your consideration.” Use the designated portal or email and avoid repeated messages when there is no new information.
Your next steps
- Check whether updates are accepted and where to send them.
- Select a meaningful development since your original application.
- Remain courteous and continue planning for another college.
