Honor Society® Expert FAQ

How do you follow up on a scholarship application?

Follow up after the published notification date has passed, or sooner if you need to resolve a missing document or submission problem. Use the provider’s designated contact channel.

What to know before you act

First check your application portal, confirmation email, and spam folder. Some providers notify only recipients, and some prohibit status inquiries. Respect those instructions rather than sending repeated messages.

A concise template is: “I applied for [award] on [date]. My application reference is [ID]. Could you confirm whether my application is complete and whether the published decision timeline has changed? Thank you.” Avoid attaching sensitive documents unless the administrator requests them through a secure route.

Your next steps

  • Read the provider’s notification and inquiry policy.
  • Include the award name, submission date, and reference number.
  • Record the reply and continue other applications while waiting.

For the next step, use the scholarship achievement inventory. Build an accurate evidence record for essays, activities, and recommendations.
